Privacy Policy

EnergyHubCo (“EnergyHubCo”, “we”, “us”) is a community website at energyhubco.com where people share energy-related machine-learning models, datasets and images, discuss them in a forum, and ask questions answered by AI. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information we collect

Account information

• Username and password. If you sign up with a username and password, we store your username and a securely hashed version of your password (scrypt). We never store your password itself.
• Google or single sign-on (SSO). If you sign in with Google or your organization's SSO, we receive from that provider a unique account identifier, your email address and your name. We store the identifier and your email address to keep you signed in to the same account and to link sign-in methods. We don't receive or store your Google or SSO password, and we don't access your contacts, files or other data.

Content you share

• Images, models, datasets and files you upload, together with the titles, descriptions, tags, model and dataset cards, and license choices you enter. This content is public: anyone can view and download it.
• Forum topics and replies, and the models, datasets or images you link to them. These are public.
• Likes you give, and the counts of views and downloads of each item (counts aren't shown per person).
• Photo metadata: when you upload an image we remove embedded metadata such as EXIF data, which can include the GPS location where a photo was taken.

AI search questions

When you type a question in the search bar, we send it to our AI provider to generate an answer (see section 3). We don't store your questions in our database.

Technical information

• Session cookie. When you sign in we set one cookie, eh_session, that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It's essential to the site, isn't used for advertising, and is deleted when you log out.
• IP address. We use your IP address to prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many accounts or AI searches come from one network). These records are kept for at most 24 hours.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) to operate and secure the service.

We don't use analytics trackers or advertising cookies, and we don't sell or rent your personal information.

2. How we use information

• To run the site: create and secure your account, keep you signed in, store and serve your uploads, and show your username next to the content and posts you publish.
• To answer AI search questions.
• To keep the community safe: uploads, model and dataset descriptions, and forum posts are automatically checked for unsafe or off-topic content before they're published.
• To prevent abuse, spam and attacks, and to fix problems.
• To contact you about your account if necessary.

3. Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run EnergyHubCo:

• Google Cloud (United States, us-central1 region) hosts the website, database and file storage, and provides Google sign-in if you choose to use it.
• Anthropic provides the AI models that answer search questions and review uploaded images, listings and forum posts for safety. The relevant text or image is sent to Anthropic for processing. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Your SSO provider, if your organization signs you in through one.
• Content delivery: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and two open-source code libraries from cdnjs (Cloudflare). These providers receive your IP address when your browser loads these files.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

4. How long we keep information

• Your account and your content are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
• Abuse-prevention records (IP addresses) are kept for at most 24 hours. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days.
• Server logs are kept by our hosting provider according to its standard retention.

5. Your choices and rights

• Edit or delete content: you can edit or delete your images, models, datasets, files and forum posts at any time from their pages.
• Delete your account: sign in, open the user menu → Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your account and everything you uploaded, including stored files, forum posts, likes and connected sign-in methods.
• Access, correction or other requests: email us at support@energyhubco.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights, such as the right to a copy of your data or to object to certain processing. We'll respond to requests as required by law.
• Google sign-in: you can remove EnergyHubCo's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.

6. Security

We use HTTPS for all traffic, store passwords only as salted hashes, keep sign-in sessions in secure HTTP-only cookies, and restrict access to our database and storage. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

7. Children

EnergyHubCo is not directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. International transfers

EnergyHubCo is hosted in the United States. If you use it from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll post a notice on the site.
